Indigo Baggage Allowance

Have you ever worried about how much baggage allowances to carry while going on a journey on an international or domestic Indigo flight? Here you will get the complete information about Indigo Baggage Policy. The number of baggage depends on the weight and size of the bags that the traveler carries. As a result, knowing what you’re allowed to carry on the airline and how much you can bring is important.  

Indigo Baggage Allowance Policy 

As per Indigo Baggage Allowance regulation, travelers can carry one suitcase and one handbag. Additionally, your carry-on luggage must fit in the overhead bin or beneath the seat in front of you. In domestic flights, the checked luggage allowance is 32lb/15kg per traveler; on international flights, it is 44lb/20kg, 55lb/25kg, or 66lb/30kg per traveler, depending on your destination.  

Indigo’s new web check-in service allows the traveler to check in online instead of long queues to acquire their boarding cards. It makes the check-in process easier and more systematic. They have to download the Indigo App to get all the information or they can track the luggage in Indigo Web-Check in Facility.  

Carry-On Indigo Baggage Allowance Domestic and International 

The maximum weight in carry-on baggage you can take is one handbag per passenger which is Maximum up to 115cm and 7 kg in both international and domestic.  

Checked-In Indigo Baggage Allowance 

Domestic Flights – 15 kilograms per person. Additional 10kg for bookings of two or more seats. Extra baggage may incur additional costs.  

International Flights – The allowance of 20 kg, 25 kg, or 30 kg per person is applicable depending on your destination. At the airport, for Extra per piece INR 2000 will be charged, with additional baggage excess possible.  

A single checked bag’s maximum combined dimensions (L + W + H) must not exceed 158cm (62in).  

Lap infants are permitted to have a 15lb/7kg free hand baggage allowance, with the bag’s total combined dimensions (L + W + H) not exceeding 115cm (domestic and international flights).  

Checked Baggage Allowance – International Flights 

1) Bangkok, Phuket, Male  

Allowances of 20kg, 25kg, and 30kg per person (2 pieces) are applied depending on the sector and for Kathmandu (1 piece only). Rs 2000 for each item will be charged at the airport. Additional fees for excess baggage may apply.  

2) Jaddeh  

Only for Jeddah to India flights. Based on the sector, a weight allowance of 20kg, 25kg, or 30kg is applicable per person (2 pieces only). INR 2000 for each item will be charged at the airport. Additional fees for excess baggage may apply.  

Abu Dhabi, Dammam, Dhaka, Doha, Dubai, Hong Kong, Istanbul, Kuwait, Muscat, Sharjah, Yangon, Colombo, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City  

Based on the sector, a weight allowance of 20kg, 25kg, or 30kg per person (2 pieces) is allowed. The cost of each piece will be INR 2000 at the airport. There may be additional luggage fees.  

3) Dubai World Central Dubai  

40 Kg is applicable for a person (2 Piece only)  

Dimensions  

A single piece of luggage cannot exceed 158 cm or 62 inches (length + width + height)  

Note  

  1. On flights from Srinagar and Jammu, carry-on luggage will not be allowed.
  1. For Vande Bharat Mission flights, the checked luggage allowance is 25 kilograms.
  1. If connecting with an international airline, the international baggage allowance will apply.
  1. As part of your checked baggage allowance, you can bring up to 5 litres of alcoholic beverages as long as they are in retail packaging. The alcohol concentration should not be more than 70%.
  1. A transparent, re-sealable 1 litre plastic bag can comfortably fit all liquid containers with a maximum volume of 100ml each.

Indigo Baggage Allowance for Infants 

    • This rule applies to lap babies aged 7 days to 24 months.
    • On domestic and international airlines, parents travelling with lap infants are allowed to have an additional hand baggage allowance (=1 handbag) if not more than that:
    • Weight: 15lb/7 kg
    • Total dimensions are 115cm (L + W + H).
    • IndiGo Airlines does not provide checked baggage allowance for lap infants.
    • There is no cost for one stroller or baby carriage.
Indigo Baggage Allowance for Sport Equipment  

    • IndiGo charges Rs 1,200 for domestic flights and Rs 2,500 for international flights for sports equipment items. If the total weight of your sports equipment (including baggage) does not exceed your free baggage allotment, you will simply be charged a handling fee for transporting your sporting equipment.
    • If your athletic equipment (including baggage) exceeds your free baggage allowance, you will be charged standard excess baggage fees as well as a handling fee for your sporting equipment.
    • Before travelling, high-value athletic equipment should be covered properly.
IndiGo Baggage Allowance for Special Items  

If you check in Special Baggage items, IndiGo will charge you a fee. This price will be applied in addition to any applicable excess baggage fees. Domestic flights cost INR 1,200 whereas international flights cost INR 2,500.  

Special Baggage items include the following:  

    • Ski/sports equipment
    • Bags for golf
    • Bicycles
    • Surfboards
    • LCD and LED TVs that are larger than 99.06cm (81.28 cm on ex-Riyadh flights)
Items having total dimensions (L + W + H) more than 158cm (including boxes)  

Cash and jewellery items must be cleared by airport officials, and IndiGo assumes no responsibility for them.  

Guitars (in soft cases) can be carried as hand baggage at no extra charge as part of your baggage allowance. Larger instruments must be covered appropriately and carried as checked baggage.  

Indigo Baggage Musical Instruments Policy 

IndiGo Airlines’ musical instruments policy lets you to take a musical instrument or equipment as carry-on or checked luggage, or purchase an additional seat to accommodate it.  

1. Musical Instrument as Carry-on Baggage  

As part of your carry-on baggage allowance, you may bring a small musical instrument. Make sure it’s properly packed in a case and small enough to fit in the overhead bin or beneath the front seat (with the case). Make sure your musical instrument (with case) does not exceed the following carry-on luggage limits:  

    • Maximum weight – 15lb/7kg
    • Dimensions maximum: 55cm x 35cm x 25cm
    • If you can’t store your musical instrument owing to space constraints, you’ll have to check it as luggage (or book a seat for it).
2. Musical Instrument on Double Seat  

By paying a two-seat fee, you can transport larger musical instruments (guitar, bass, cello, etc.). The following conditions apply to carrying a musical instrument as seat baggage  

    • The overall weight of the musical instrument, including the case, cannot exceed 165 pounds (75kg).
    • To avoid causing injury to other passengers, the musical instrument must be properly packed.
    • To avoid any movement during the flight, the musical instrument must be attached to the Double Seat with a seatbelt.
    • You cannot place your musical instrument on the window seat.
3. Musical Instrument as Checked Baggage  

You must check in if you are travelling with a musical instrumentthat is not suitable for transportation in the cabin due to its weight and/or size. To avoid harm, however, you must pack the instrument safely. Drums, harps, double basses, and other musical instruments are examples of checked luggage items.  

What should you do if IndiGo delays, loses, or damages Baggage?  

    • If your checked baggage does not arrive or comes damaged, you must notify an IndiGo employee in the destination airport’s arrival hall right away.
    • You can track your baggage online. Follow up on your report can be done by IndiGo’s online luggage tracking tool. This is a free online tool that you can access.
    • IndiGo will not cover minor damage such as scratches, dents, punctures, scuffs, or loss of projecting pieces such as wheels, external locks, handles, name tags, pockets, and so on. Damage to things improperly wrapped or contained in overstuffed bags will not be reimbursed.

Responsibility of IndiGo for Lost and Damaged Bags 

IndiGo’s is responsible for checked bags that are late, lost, or damaged is primarily restricted to:  

    • Lost baggage Compensation for Domestic – Rs 19,000 per Baggage.
    • Lost baggage Compensation for International – Rs 66,000 per Baggage.
The only exception is if you specified a higher value for your bag’s contents before travelling and paid an additional cost. You will be paid based on the higher value you gave in your special declaration in this case.  

Tips for your luggage in general:  

    •  At all times, especially at the airport, don’t leave your luggage unattended. Airport Security may remove unattended luggage as a possible source of suspicion.
    • Before baggage screening/check-in, please declare any weapons or explosive substances you may be carrying. The Aircraft Act and Rules make concealment a criminal offence.
    • Label all baggage with the passenger’s name, address, and contact information.
    • All prohibited/restricted items are subject to being removed by security, and IndiGo may not be able to replace them.
