Kerala A Soul Soothing Adventurous Trip

2024-07-24
Ever wondered why Kerela is called ‘God’s Own Country’? Well, there are many reasons, some say it was a mythological belief that led to this phrase. Others say it was the culture, but we believe all beliefs could have led to this happening, but its natural beauty plays a major role. It’s the ‘God’s Own Country’ as your soul will feel like it’s reborn when you come for a visit. The natural beauty, the greenery, the culture, the practices and the harmony that one attains, all but point to one direction, Kerala was surely God’s favorite country. Even though it is a state and not a country, the environment it presents sets it far apart from the rest of the world. It is the standard of natural beauty amongst the worlds.

Now we would like to bestow upon you the gifts that not many travelling to this state would know about.

Explorichng Secret Beaches

Beaes are a great prospect when you plan to travel. Whenever we’re booking for our next trip, we often try to sqeeze as many beaches into it as much as possible but here’s the downside, beaches are crowded. That’s right, whenever we think of beaches we want limited people, so that you can take full advantage of it, and that’s why Kerela is an amazing destination. There are many “hidden” or “secret” beaches in the state, where you’ll find a lot less people and do all the same activities with more enthusiasm. Marari Beach, located in the fishing village of Mararikulam, is a haven where you can relax under the shade of long old coconut palms and have fresh seafood. This beach is perfect for people who want to experience the simple joys of life in a traditional village setting. A beach away from everything, doesn't it sound like something you'd think about in a dream?

If you’re looking for even more seclusion, Kappil Beach near Varkala is a great choice. This is very peaceful spot, where the backwaters meet the Arabian Sea, provides an aesthetic setting for kayaking or relaxing by the water or even for your Instagram clicks. The nearby cliffs offer spectacular views, especially at sunset, making it a perfect spot for quiet walks or even contemplating or just some beautiful scenery you sit by and watch it pass.

Luxurious Backwater Retreats

If anyone you know, who has been to Kerala, you'll notice them talk non-stop about the beauty of the backwaters. It’s a network of canals, rivers and lakes and what’s more fun about it is that the place is surrounded by villages filled with trees, greenery, plantations, etc., making you feel like you’re boating in heaven. It’s a sight that gets imprinted in your memory for life and we promise, you’ll enjoy every second of it. A houseboat cruise in Alleppey (Alappuzha) is a must-do. The houseboats come with all modern amenities, provide a comfortable and luxurious way to enjoy the backwaters, so you don’t have to worry about being uncomfortable on your ride.

Another peaceful retreat is the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, situated on the banks of Vembanad Lake. Staying at a heritage resort here allows you to squeeze in an Ayurvedic spa treatment, enjoy local cuisine, and go on bird-watching tours to see rare migratory birds. If you enjoy nature and the birdlife, you’ll appreciate what this place offers.

Adventurous Escapades

Now we promised you an adventurous journey as well and here it is. The Western Ghats, particularly the Munnar region, are perfect for trekking. Known for its tea plantations and rolling hills, Munnar’s trails lead to stunning viewpoints like Meesapulimala and Anamudi Peak, the highest point in South India. Trekking enthusiasts from around the world come to trek here just to witness the beauty of the place. A climb like such really makes you appreciate the view.

If you like trekking and a little bit of water sports, then you might find the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary in Thekkady an exciting destination. Here, you can try bamboo rafting and jungle trekking. As you find your way through the dense forests of Kerela, you’ll have the chance to spot elephants, tigers, and many exotic birds. The sanctuary’s lake also offers peaceful boat rides, providing close encounters with wildlife in their natural habitat. It’s really an experience that is not accurately expressible unless you see it yourself.

Cultural Experiences

What’s a trip good for if you don’t connect with the people there? We take trip not just to experience the regular nuances that exist but also to meet the people, find out what life in such a place is like and try to become one of them during the whole visit, so you can take back all the happy memories and these wild experiences that would make the trip worthwhile.

When you’re in Kerala, do try the Kerala’s cuisine. From spicy seafood curries to vegetarian dishes served on banana leaves, the local food is a highlight. There are also experiences that offer the service to cook a traditional dish along with a local, might just be something that strikes your interest. Also interacting with the people on the places you go to, will help you learn more about the place and you might even get lucky and hear a story or two from the locals.

In Fort Kochi, you can explore colonial-era architecture, art galleries, and spice markets. This area is a cultural melting pot, reflecting the state’s diverse history. A must-see is the Kathakali performance, a classical dance-drama known for its elaborate costumes and expressive gestures.

Kerela is a destination that is truly bestowed with the gifts from God. It is a country of its own. An ecosystem so detached that once people come here; they wish to revisit as soon as possible. Even when disconnected and away from your stressful life of the metropolis, the environment of the place truly gives you a sense of purpose, a moment for reflection and an appreciation for nature and all its beauty. Whether it's secluded beaches or boat riding or kayaking adventures, this place is truly a “has it all” kind of a place. It is a proof that it is truly “God’s Own Country”
